South Dakota

Well, I'm back from South Dakota!
I had such a marvelous time. It was so fun to be with Mama and Dad.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of me... because I hate taking pictures of me!
Well, what's in South Dakota?
Of course there's the usual monuments: Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Devils's tower. (I sent a cool puzzle postcard of Devil's tower to Foster)
But, I also went to a few local places that should be credited as well.
The national museum of woodcarving, (I got a cute wooden music box that plays 'Waltz of the flowers' here) The Cosmos, (I got lots of postcards here) the town of Deadwood/Deadwood museum, Crystal caverns, (I got a porcelain indian doll here) Ft. Hays' "Dancing with wolves" movie set, (I got a black hills jacket here) and Reptile Gardens. (I got a cool reptile necklace here)
The breathtaking Mt. Rushmore
Crazy horse (Still not completed, even after 60 years)
This was unbelievable! Devil's tower first made it's debut in "Close encounters of the third kind"
I guess water, wind, lava, and other stuff made it into a huge mountain.
The Cosmos mystery area. (Highly recommended) If you'll notice this guy is sitting in a chair... on the wall! Everything was completely backwards! It was mind-boggling.

Black Hills, Reptile Gardens. This was really cool! Those darn amphibians.

I'm so glad I got to go!

I'm so glad you got to go too! South Dakota was one of my favorite family vacations. Everyone should get to see it someday. We went there just 3 years ago and the kids loved it too! We saw all the same things except Devil's Tower -- that looks really cool!

It was fun to have you with us on this vacation Genelle! I loved seeing Mount Rushmore again. It is a monument worth seeing. We had a lot of fun, and saw some great landmarks. Thanks for being a good sport...it wasn't Disneyland, and you went along for a lot of sightseeing. M.

I love South Dakota! It was one of my favorite trips growing up, and I went there for Encore tour a few years ago too! Lots of fond memories. I remember the cosmos from our trip years ago (I was mad that I wasn't able to see it with Encore). I'm glad you had fun!
